The Society established the Richmond Fellowship Post Graduate College for Psychosocial Rehabilitation, first of its kind in India, also in South East Asia, in the year 1999. This college offers a two year M.Sc. course in Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Counselling and is approved by Government of Karnataka, affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, and is also recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India. It is recognized under Sec.2 (f) of the UGC Act and is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The RFPG College has an MOU with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, (NIMHANS), Bangalore.

The RFS(I) facilities are recognized for undergoing training in Psychosocial Rehabilitation programmes for students from different Universities in the country. In addition, students from USA, UK and Germany have come for short stints as interns / volunteers and have benefited from the exposure they had with the Fellowship.

Short Term Training

The Society was the first Non-Governmental Organisation in the country to offer a short Certificate Course in Psychosocial Rehabilitation of the mentally ill from 1992. The period of short term training ranged from 3 to 6 months. In addition, in the recent past short-term training programmes of three months duration have been conducted for two batches that provided training in Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), and one batch in Counseling. The fellowship has plans to conduct such programmes in the future, the details of which will be available in the website.

Block Placement / Internship / concurrent field work

Post Graduate students studying for Master’s in Social work / clinical psychology from different Universities / Institutions, as part requirement of their courses, are provided ‘hands- on’ experience and didactic teaching at the RF facilities for a period ranging from 15-45 days.

Orientation visit

Post Graduate students coming from behavioural and social sciences background and coming from different Universities and Institutions from different part of the country come for Orientation visits too. On an average we get around 300-350 students per year.
